Step 1: Research
Do a secondary research about:

Step 2: Shortlist
Make a shortlist of Universities according to your profile and your preferences to which you would like to apply.
Step 3: Documents
Make sure all required documents are in place before moving to applications
The following scanned documents are required (May vary):
1. Passport
2. All academic transcripts and degrees
3. English Proficiency Exam, such as: IELTS/TOEFL/DET.
4. Letter of Recommendations (LOR) (2-3 LORs are required).
5. Statement of Purpose (SOP)
6. Resume (Academic)
7. Other documents like WES assessment, Bank Letter, University Questions etc.
Step 4: Applications
UG: Common App (Common App is a common applications portal for 99% of universities for undergraduate admissions).
PG: University Portal (Every university has separate portals to Apply for Masters and PhD programs)
Step 5: Caution
Make sure all applications are rechecked twice and all relevant documents are uploaded, scholarship applications and official test scores are sent to the universities way before deadlines.
Step 6: Decision
On average, a US university takes between 4-8 weeks to declare the results of your application sent to the university.
An Email is sent to your registered email ID, mentioning your acceptance, rejection or deference to the desired college you applied to.
Step 7: After Admittance
Read the complete offer letter thoroughly and make sure if any condition is given, it has to be met before the deadline mentioned.
1. The university will ask for documents that are further required like final transcripts, test scores, degrees, etc.
2. Pay a deposit/enrollment fee – to reserve your seat at the university. The amount and deadline will be mentioned
3. Financial Documents – The university will ask for 1 year’s total cost to Attend college in the US (mentioned on the university website or portal)
4. Login into the university portal to see the next steps and documents required
Step 8: Financial Documents and I20
The university will ask to give proof of 1 year of sufficient funds in liquid form (which can be withdrawn immediately) like a savings account balance certificate, fixed deposit, invested funds etc.
After submission of proof of funds within 2 weeks, you will receive an I20 certificate from the university and now you can apply for a student F-1 Visa.
Step 9: Student Visa
M-1(programs duration less than 9 months)/F1 visa/J-1 visa (PhD students)
1. Fee: $185 USD (Visa Fee) + $350 USD (SEVIS Fee)
2. 2 forms to be filled: DS-160 Non-Immigrant applications form and US Travel Document – for visa interview appointment form.
3. Once the fee is paid: the calendar for biometric and visa interview appointments opens up, book the dates for biometrics at the VFS center and interview appointment at Embassy/Consulate.
4. Once the visa is approved, you can collect your passport within 5-10 days from VFS center/courier.
Step 10: Pre-Departure
1. Register for Classes
2. Register for Orientation
3. Get an Immunization Certificate
4. Book Accommodation
5. Get Health Insurance
6. Pay first-semester fee
7. Connect with DSO and Student advisor
8. Attend Webinar and session to understand the requirements
9. Follow the rules
10. Carry all documents (Passport, I20, Offer letter, academic transcripts)
1. US Visa Fee: $185 USD (Visa Fee) + $350 USD (SEVIS Fee)
